Welcome to my web site. My name is Mick Hutchison.  I live in Arkansas and
have been turning Segmented pieces since I retired in 2002.  This web sit  
documents my progress as a wood turner.  My most recent work can be found
in gallery I  progressing backward to gallery VIII where my earliest work can
be found.   
Although I turn solid work, I really love
turning segmented pieces.  My wife
describes segmented turning as buying large
boards, cutting them up into small pieces,  
then gluing them back together into big
pieces and then turning them into bowls and
vases.
Hopefully in doing this something neat
happens to the finished piece.  Many
different designs can be created.  I am
limited only by geometry and what I am
capable of visualizing. A lot of my time is
spent thinking about What the next piece
will look like.

My turning has been slowed a little this year as I took about 6 week off to
build a new work shop. (see pictures on the bottom of My Shop page)  It put
me behind, and I am just getting around to updating my web site.  I do now
